To the Voices Before Me

What makes you pick up a book? Is it the author? Maybe it's the steamy romance or the thrilling adventure that waits inside? Or perhaps it's simply the cover that cast a spell on you.

I'm not going to lie, the cover certainly has a significant role in my decision process. I love reading the authors I've come to adore, but what truly speaks to me is the content. Books that have a funny but strong heroine, a fiercely protective hero, and some undeniable chemistry are my weakness. Elements of magic, contemporary romance, and mystery speak to me the most (all of which are most certainly present in The Pavers).

Over the last year, I've learned a lot about what it takes to give your whole heart and soul to writing. The respect I have for anyone who is brave enough to publish their work has tripled, especially for some of my favorite authors. Honestly, they're super heroes! I can't even handle the fact that many of them have over ten books written!

I wanted to give a shout out to the voices that I've loved listening to and those that have inspired me to find my own voice. It can be intimidating to publish in a world filled with incredible literature, but what if your favorite author didn't share their work simply because they were nervous? Give them a read, and comment what your favorite authors and genres are.

Mia Sheridan, Cambria Hebert, Elle Kennedy, Colleen Hoover, Tammara Webber, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Pamela Clare, Maya Banks, James Patterson, Nicholas Sparks, and Stephenie Meyer. Thank you for being brave enough to share your voice.
